Max sang "Beautiful City" from Godspell at Hell's Kitchen for a cabaret, when his home state of Minnesota was discussing its future for marriage equality. Now Minnesota is the 12th state to ensure the same rights and privileges for all loving, committed relationships, and he could not be more grateful. A beautiful city, indeed.
Max premiered a few songs he wrote at Prosody's December 2012 cabaret at Musical Monday at Hell's Kitchen. Here are two of them, both written with composer Jason Hansen: "This is Not My Night," performed by David Darrow and Caroline Innerbichler; and "Christmas with My Guy," performed by David Darrow. Denise Prosek is at the piano.
Sheena Janson and I sang the opening number from FRUIT FLY: THE MUSICAL at our fundraiser cabaret on June 25, 2012 at Hell's Kitchen. The show went on to be a hit with audiences and critics at the 2012 Minnesota Fringe!
Aly Westberg and I sang "Your Love Takes Me There" from DEAL! THE MUSICAL on KARE 11 Today on April 23rd, 2012 to promote the new musical that played at the Ritz Theatre this spring!
PROSODY is a new songwriting initiative with Theater Latte Da, pairing lyricists and composers to create new music theater. These pieces are from the first showcase in May 2011, featuring Erin Capello, Caroline Innerbichler, Jake Klinkhammer, Danny McHugh and myself. Like Prosody on Facebook!
On August 15th, 2011, I hosted and coordinated a benefit cabaret for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, featuring some of the best music-theater singers in the Twin Cities, in memory of my dad, John, who lost his battle with multiple myeloma in the summer of 2009. That night we raised nearly $2,500 for the MMRF to continue their good work! The video below features some highlights from that performance. I hope to make this cabaret an annual event!
Oh look - a vocal reel! This is just me singing two selections, from Carousel and A Year with Frog and Toad.
Here's Kecia Rehkamp and me performing "Beauty and the Beast in Four Minutes"
at the auditions for the 2003 Minnesota State Fair Amateur Talent Contest.
We went on to the finals at the grandstand and became Open Division Champions!

On Dying from Peter Nelson on Vimeo.
In the summer of 2008 I did a short film for Peter Becker Nelson, in a series called "On Dying." The project explore aging and death by dubbing the words of elderly people in Peter's life and seeing them lip-synced by young people he knew. More about Peter at http://www.beckernelson.com/.
Ann Michels and I did an appearance on KARE 11's Showcase Minnesota for MR MCGEE AND THE BITING FLEA on February 8th, 2010. Click here to check it out on Facebook!
